Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
At Ufford Park Woodbridge, we recognise the social and environmental responsibilities that we carry on behalf of our guests, our employees and the local community.
Ufford Park is an independently owned business, established in 1992, which is part of the community and as such many of the 150 staff and the majority of the golf, leisure and spa clientele are local to the hotel. We are pleased to support local schools and charitable organisations through donations for fund raising, work experience placements for students and mentoring to schools in the locality.
We are committed to minimising the negative impact of the hotel on the environment and to this end we currently have a large number of measures in place and are constantly searching for new ideas.
Right from the outset we have been acutely aware of our environmental responsibilities and in 1997 we built a reservoir on the golf course, which holds 4 million gallons of water and boosts our existing summer water supply. The construction utilised 14,000 redundant car tyres, covered in soil, to reduce wear and tear and give the waterproof lining a more natural appearance. The tyres were delivered by a local supplier as an eco-friendly alternative to disposing of them.
Within the grounds and golf course we operate nature friendly policies, have developed a natural habitat for wildlife and flora, the latest RSPB bird count identifying some 68 species of bird across the site. The hotel was proud to win The English Golfer Environmental Award in 2005 in recognition of commitment to ecological good practice.
Our aim is to work towards continuous improvement in environmental management and performance by hotel staff and to encourage support from our customers, suppliers and the local community. Though it is sometimes not possible to recycle or reuse every item, we are always searching for new ideas. We welcome any positive suggestions.
