Ufford Park Newsletter - Autumn/Winter 2017

Suffolk is looking lovely as the trees change colour in the forests & the sun tries to shine on the beaches. Perfect for dog walking & exploring. Our golf greens are looking particularly lush so we’ve included a ‘High Five’ from our Golf Manager, Michael Halliday. We hope you enjoy our Autumn/Winter newsletter which contains news and developments here at Ufford Park Hotel, Golf and Spa.

Appointment of a new Head of Operations

We’re delighted to welcome a new Head of Operations to the Hotel. Max Moussa joins us with a great deal of relevant experience working in the hotel and hospitality sector, and plenty of enthusiasm. Max will have responsibility for ensuring the smooth, day to day running of the hotel and he’s looking forward to working with the team to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Seasonal and special events at Ufford Park

Christmas is fast approaching and we are preparing for another themed extravaganza. If you come along you will find yourself entering the world of The Enchanted Forest. We are hosting a number of themed party nights for friends, family or colleagues which can be either private or shared and include a delicious three course meal and disco in our ever-popular Deben Suite. Everyone is starting to get excited as the festive season starts to get under way.

In fact, celebrations take place at Ufford Park all year round with guests enjoying birthday and anniversary parties, baby showers, christenings and wakes. Our team is always keen to ensure that every gathering is as personalised as possible, so let us know what you would like and we will put together the perfect event for you.

Launch of new Afternoon Teas

We love a traditional afternoon tea here at Ufford Park. In fact, we love it so much that we’ve created some alternatives to our traditional tea.

The savory afternoon tea and the children’s afternoon tea are now available and guests can enjoy them between 2pm and 5pm, 7 days a week in The Aldous Lounge, The Park Bar or on our large terrace overlooking the beautifully landscaped golf course.

You can combine afternoon tea with another activity at Ufford Park such as golf, adventure golf or a treatment in our spa for a perfect summertime outing. We even do afternoon tea weddings!

Staycations at Ufford Park

Staying in the UK rather than travelling abroad for your holiday is having a bit of a moment, and there are plenty of reasons why Ufford Park is a good choice for a UK staycation. We’ve pulled together our thoughts in a new blog which you can read on our website.

A great day out with the children

We have just launched our Little Adventurers Day Out offer where children can enjoy a round on our Congo Rapids Adventure Golf Course with dinosaurs, rafts, & erupting volcanos, a main meal from the children’s menu & a swim in our 15 meter deck level swimming pool. A whole day out for only £15* per child (4-12 year olds). Contact Spa Reception on 01394 383555 ext. 290 to book. *Terms & conditions apply.

High Five from...
...Michael Halliday - Head of the Golf Department

Q. What is your role and how long have you been doing it at Ufford Park?

A. I'm the Golf Manager and Club Secretary. I have worked for Ufford Park for over 12 years, I have been Club Secretary for 7 years and Golf Manager for 4 years.

Q. What are the most challenging aspects of your job?

A. The golf industry is very much dependent on a good day’s weather, so budgeting is certainly one of the most challenging aspects of my job. Despite other local course closures throughout the winter months we haven’t closed once in my 12 years here at Ufford Park! Our greenkeepers do a really extraordinary job. A lot of thought also goes in to membership renewals, diaries, fixtures and sponsorship.

Q. What’s the last thing you do before leaving work at the end of the day?

A. One last check of my emails and tomorrow’s schedule to make sure everything is in place for the next day.

Q. If you weren’t doing this job what would you be doing?

A. I would've joined the police force. I've always felt that I'm pretty good at fixing problems

Q. Three words to describe your job?

A. Constant, busy and sociable.

We hope to welcome you here soon.
