Staycation at Ufford Park
A reputation that us Brits have is that we all love to have
a good moan. Whether it’s about the weather, politics, football, you name it,
we’ll moan about it! So, when it actually comes down to our own country and local
areas, we’re usually nothing but pessimistic. Holiday makers are always keen to
jet off to some warm, atmospheric city somewhere nearer the equator for their
summer breaks, when in reality, there’s a lot on our doorstep that we simply
take for granted!
The UK offers a beautiful palette of colours in our
countryside landscapes which can change along with the seasons, but there are
many more reasons to stay and appreciate what we have rather than searching
overseas. A very topical point being Brexit, which has had an impact on the
value of the Pound and led to a number of Britons choosing to stay in the UK
for their holidays; it’s also meant a number of travellers from abroad have
taken the opportunity to visit the UK too (so we can’t be that bad!)
Rather sensibly, the ‘Staycation’ has returned. The choice
to stay put in the UK for your family holiday may have been difficult enough,
but now you have to decide where. Do you opt for the busy, exciting streets of
London? Or do you partake in a hiking trip through rural Devon? Hopefully, we
can help make your decision a little easier.
At Ufford Park, we are truly blessed with a location that
falls perfectly in favour of a Staycation in the UK. We have the busy, county
town of Ipswich just 10 miles away, as well as the quaint seaside towns of
Southwold and Aldeburgh which are full of exciting things to do. The famous
‘Anglo-Saxon’ burial site at Sutton Hoo is a very short drive away, as well as
its history-loving neighbours Framlingham and Orford which boast two gorgeous
castles, both open to the public.
If you don’t fancy straying too far from the Ufford Park
site, then you can join in one of the many activities we have available here
for all the family. For golf fans, our award-winning 18-hole golf course is suitable
for all abilities, as is our new Adventure Golf course. If in typical English
fashion the rainclouds do appear, then take shelter in our unique, two-tier all
weather driving range. If you’d rather spend your time indoors instead of
braving the English weather, we have a swimming pool, gym and spa all available
Aldeburgh is famous for its fish and chips, a trip there for
lunch would be a fabulous idea! However, if a restaurant setting is more up
your street then Ufford Park has its newly refurbished ‘The Park Restaurant’
available which provides a contemporary setting with a seasonally-changing menu
with all locally sourced produce.
On our back doorstep we are greeted by the beautiful Suffolk
countryside, which is perfect for any nature lovers. A number of nature
reserves, such as RSPB Minsmere are also all in easy reach.
The weather here may not always be perfect, but we believe
that we can more than make up for that with our proud history, beautiful
landscape and friendly, welcoming people. You probably know of many friends or
family that jet off somewhere hot, but how about giving a Staycation a try. We
think it’s something everyone should experience, and where better to start than
Not only that, we’re open all year round!
