Golf is great for your health

They say playing sport is a longer term, more sustainable way of maintaining your fitness and amongst the sports cited for optimising health, as well as mental well-being, is golf.

Here at Ufford Park we have some of the best golf facilities in the East of England, and welcome players of all ages and abilities to come and get fit and have fun – whatever the weather.

Our undulating, landscaped 18 hole course has excellent drainage and has been voted the top winter course by Today’s Golfer. We also boast a two tier floodlit driving range, with heating in the bays for chillier days.

You’ll find all the equipment you need to ‘pay and play’ at Ufford Park, with fantastic deals and rates available mid-week – golf has never been so affordable or accessible.

The pay-offs from a session on our beautiful green include reduced stress, and major calorie burning. According to research, an 18-hole round could burn between 1,500 and 2,500 calories and see you smashing the daily ‘steps target’ of 10,000.

Being a low impact sport played over soft ground, golf is just perfect for anyone who is unable to participate in activities such as running, tennis or squash

Golf will not only help with your fitness, but also tests your hand-eye coordination, and allows you to indulge your competitive streak as you try to beat your par on the driving range, or out skill friends out on the grounds.

If you’re a bit rusty, or are totally new to the sport, give our friendly team at Doctorgolf a call and book in a few lessons. Stuart Robertson, who runs Doctorgolf, is one of the region’s most respected professional PGA golfers, delivering a programme of lessons to players of all abilities, aiming to bring out their natural talents while getting results.

Stuart recommends taking as many lessons as you need to feel comfortable – likening learning golf to driving a car, “it really depends on how quickly you get the hang of it”.

Off the course we have indulgent spa facilities for you to enjoy, to loosen up those muscles. And you can relax over a glass of wine, chilled beer or coffee in our Park Bar.

Take advantage of some of our brilliant pay and play mid-week golf offers over the summer, including £9 for nine holes during the evenings and free play for under 16s Monday to Friday with a paying adult.
