Ufford Park - Autumn 2018

We have had a busy few months here at Ufford Park, with the arrival of our brand new giant deckchair and the refurbishment of the Beauty Salon, it has been great to see so many of you enjoying the hot weather with us. Now, as we approach the autumn months and reach the end of the heatwave, why not treat yourself to a visit to the spa or enjoy a hearty meal in The Park Restaurant? It’s also the perfect time of year to enjoy a Paddy and Scott’s coffee and a slice of cake in our newly refurbished Park Bar.

We have lots to tell you about in this issue, and as our thoughts turn to the end of another year, it is only fitting that we share some information about what’s going on over Christmas at Ufford Park. So, go and get yourself a coffee and free up some time to read our latest news!

Twilight weddings

Are you or someone you know planning a second-time wedding? Whether you’re looking to host a larger A bride and groom at sunset celebration or an intimate affair, Ufford Park is the perfect place for your special day. Our twilight wedding package includes the ceremony and reception room hire, an arrival drink for each guest, a Suffolk selection buffet, chair covers and sashes, a disco and an overnight stay for the bridal couple on their wedding night, all for just £3999.00 for 100 guests. It’s time to start thinking about Christmas

If the idea of cooking on Christmas Day is filling you with dread, then why not bring your family and friends to enjoy a stress-free Christmas here at Ufford Park? Or, if you already have plans for Christmas Day, join us for Boxing Day lunch instead! Whether you’re looking to arrange a festive lunch, enjoy a private party or just pop-in for Afternoon Tea, there is a lot going on over the festive period.

This year our Christmas party theme is Moulin Rouge so we will be transforming our Deben Suite into a night of Parisian glamour with twinkling lights, sparkling sequins and big feathers! From just £37.50 per person, you can enjoy a delicious three-course meal and party until midnight with your friends, family and colleagues. So, what are you waiting for?

Don’t miss your photo opportunity in our giant deckchair! Two people in a giant deck chair

For those of you that haven’t seen it yet, we currently have a giant deckchair on our terrace. If you’re visiting us soon, make sure you hop in and have your photo taken and share your photos with us on social media by using the hashtag: #uffordpark. Be quick though – the deckchair will only be around until the end of October!

New Kingfisher house!

Kingfisher houseHaving finished runners up in the Operation Pollinator Award at the 2017 Golf Environmental Awards, our team of greenkeepers have been incredibly busy improving the opportunity for wildlife out on the golf course. Around 50 bird boxes and bug hotels have already been built and the kingfisher house, located on the 5th green, is the latest addition.

Kingfisher nestOur Head Greenkeeper, Adrian Hollins and the team have recently seen kingfisher activity nearby so we are keeping our fingers crossed that one will move in to the house sometime soon. We will be installing a spy camera to keep a close eye on any movement so we will be sure to keep you updated on its progress. 

High Five from…Ash Green, Head Chef:

How long have you been at Ufford Park?Ash Green

I am the Head Chef at Ufford Park and I have been in this role for 6 months now, but I have been working for the company for 16 years in total.

What are the most challenging aspects of your job?

I find the daily running of the kitchen is both challenging and invigorating! We have a wide variety of customers visiting the hotel each day so it is important that we cater for the needs of everyone, and deliver excellent quality at all times. I also find liaising with suppliers and negotiating prices and ideas is complex at times, but enjoyable. 

What’s the last thing you do before leaving work at the end of the day?

At the end of each day I like to thank all of my staff for their hard work. I think this is very important because a kitchen is a pressurised environment and my team work so hard during each shift to deliver excellent food in a timely manner.

If you weren’t doing this job what would you be doing?

Career wise, if I wasn’t a chef, I honestly don’t know, it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. But I would certainly be spending more time with my little boy and my family.

Three words to describe your job?

Challenging, rewarding and exciting.
